If you want BUTTERFLIES you need to supply both nectar food source, and food for the larva stages. Larva stages will actually EAT THE PLANT. So if you are seeing leaves eaten YOU CAN NOT SPRAY. Parsley, beans and hollyhocks are among the favorites.

They are cold-blooded, and need to be warmed by the sun. Place some nice flat rocks out in the sun for them to warm themselves. Shallow dishes of water in sunny spots for them to drink from will make them happy.

Butterflies like a 'WILD' Garden. This means no mowing, and letting the weeds grow. Just a small portion in a corner would be great for them. They love milkweed and thistle. They also like the different heights of plants to land on.

Put cut branches of magnolia, crabapple, and forsythia in vases for forcing blooms indoors.
